Arlington Dog (Black or White)

Arlington Court is a beautiful mansion in Devon which were given to the National Trust by Miss Rosalie Chichester in 1949. This fine plaster sculpture shows her faithful companion ‘Memory’. The marble original can still be seen at Arlington Court.

A gentle study of an old and familiar friend, characterised by his listening and thoughtful pose; his tail curled round, head resting on his paws and back legs drawn under his body. The sculpture eloquently suggests the qualities dog lovers recognise; truthfulness, loyalty and friendship - ‘Semper Fidelis’.
