Like his contemporary, Shakespeare, Marlowe also became a successful playwright. Rumour has it that he also operated as a spy for Elizabeth I. His exact cause of death remains a mystery. Celebrated plays include 'The Jew of Malta' and 'Doctor Faustus'.

The Bust

Based on portraits and descriptions of the time, this bust was sculpted at our workshop in Bath and makes a great addition to the fireplace, bookshelves or occasional table of any Marlowe aficionado.

Around the Base

There are a series of objects around the base illustrating articles associated with Marlowe. For this bust we have included The Rose Theatre, Helen of Troy, the devil from Doctor Faustus, the Maltese cross from the Jew of Malta and quill and ink.

The etch around the base, the first line of his poem The Passionate Shepherd to His Love, reads - "COME LIVE WITH ME AND BE MY LOVE".
