Michael Collins
16.10.1890 - 22.08.1922

The soldier and politician Michael Collins was shot aged 32 in an ambush during the Irish Civil War.
More Info
He was pivotal to the emergence of the free Irish nation; a romantic figure who still draws crowds to his graveside at Glasnevin Cemetery, Dublin.

The Base
For this bust we have included these objects around the base - The General Post Office in flames, an armoured card, a soldier, central Dublin in ruins, Kitty Kiernan (fiancé of Collins), a revolver, his hat and an Irish harp.

The etch around the base reads:

"GIVE US BACK OUR COUNTRY TO LIVE IN, TO GROW IN … TO LOVE"

Pádraig Henry Pearse
30.11.1874 - 24.01.1965

The name of Pádraig Pearse is indelibly linked with the Easter Rising of 1916 and the fight for Irish freedom from British rule.

More Info
This learned man, teacher, barrister, poet and writer was one of the signatories of the Proclamation who were shot at Kilmainham Gaol after the failed rising.

The Base
There are object featured around the base. For this bust we have included Pearse talking to a crowd in front of the General Post Office, Nelson's Pillar, the Irish Proclamation being nailed to a door, a revolver, an Irish harp and Éamon de Valera after his surrender.

The etch around the base reads:

Lord Kitchener
24.06.1850 - 05.06.1916

Lord Kitchener's army of volunteers boosted the British Army in the First World War from two hundred thousand to approximately two million men.

The poster campaign remains an iconic symbol of the Great War, 'The war to end all wars.' 1914-1918.

The Bust
Sculpted at our workshop in Bath, inspiration was drawn from the famous 'Your Country Needs You' poster.

Around the base
The objects featured around the base include a WWI tank, gas mask, shells, spade, helmets, a Howitzer and British Tommies going 'over the top'.
The etch around the base, taken from the famous poster, reads:

"YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Duke of Wellington
01.05.1769 - 14.09.1852

Field Marshal Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington (1769-1852) was an Anglo-Irish statesman and one of the leading military and political figures of 19th century Britain.

He defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
The Bust


This original, sculpted at our workshop in Bath, draws on the many paintings and sketches of the Duke.

Around the Base.
The figures around the base include scenes from the Battle of Waterloo with riflemen, horses and canons as well as a small depiction of Napoleons capture.

The etch around the base reads - "THE BUSINESS OF WAR, AND INDEED LIFE, IS GUESSING WHAT IS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HILL"

Nelson's famous signal 'England expects that every man will do his duty',

was made from the HMS Victory at 11:15am on 21st October 1805, minutes before the Battle of Trafalgar.

The Bust

This original sculpture was based on many of the sculptures and paintings of Lord Nelson and made at our workshop in Bath.

The Base
The objects around the base include pistols, telescopes and ammunition, a cameo of Lady Hamilton and Nelson's iconic hat.

The etch around the base reads:

"ENGLAND EXPECTS THAT EVERY MAN WILL DO HIS DUTY"

Nelson's signal from HMS Victory in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.
