About his work:
The Human figure was the constant source of Dobson's inspiration. From the 1920's he concentrated on the female nude.

His work reflects a range of influences. Most obviously the work of the French Sculptor, Aristide Maillol and the art of India and the Orient. The original is worked in Marble and dates to the same period as a journey that Dobson undertook to Sri Lanka.

Clytie

This replica features George Frederick Watts interpretation of Clytie who features in the tale by Roman poet, Ovid.

In the story, a water nymph named Clytie falls in love with the sun god Apollo.

After some time, Apollo deserted her and in her sadness, Clytie changed into a sunflower so that she might turn her head to follow the sun each day, as it makes its way from east to west each day.
